The first nine weeks grading period ended on Thursday, October 12th.
On October 18th, the 8th grade will be taking a trip to the U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama
Forms for the Parent-Teacher Conference were sent home last week. Parent conferences will take place on Thursday, October 19th from 12:30 - 7:00. Please contact Mrs. Wright if are interested in scheduling a conference.
On Friday, October 27th the PTO will be hosting a Halloween Dance beginning at 6:00. Costumes must comply with the school dress code.
May 7th - May 12th, 7th and 8th grade students who qualify academically and behaviorally will have the opportunity to visit Disney World. The total price for the trip is $875 per student. This week Mr. Page's class is studying the Constitutional Convention. After completion we will begin discussing Indian Removal. There will be NO Word Up quiz or test this week. 20 slides are due on Friday for Slides Presentation Check 2. 1st and 2nd period have a Books of the South report due on Friday.
In Mrs. Wright's class this week, students will be working on close reading and constructed responses using different writing strategies. Our field trip is Wednesday, and there is a pilot reading and writing test Thursday and Friday.
Don't forget Thursday is also a half day for students for parent-teacher conferences. Appointment confirmations are going home Monday, October 16.
There is no vocabulary this week because of the additional school activities.
This week Mrs. Colvin's classes will be converting between fractions and decimals and finding the square roots of numbers that are perfect squares. During Chapter 4, students are NOT allowed to use a calculator. The Chapter 4 Quiz will take place Tuesday, October 24th.
